Indian Woman in the US Loses Her Life Savings to a Hinge Scammer
A 37-year-old Indian-origin woman, Shreya Dutta, has lost around $450,000 in a cryptocurrency dating scam in the US. She dated a scammer named Ancel disguised as a French wine trader via the online Hinge app. This scam led her to have PTSD trauma. The FBI reported cryptocurrency scams worth over $3.5 billion, with 40,000 victims. Many cases remain unreported due to shame.

Dating Scam: Women Lure Victims to Pubs, Run Up Huge Bills, Then Vanish
Hyderabad police registered a case on Friday (7/06/2024) for an alleged “dating scam” of a few women taking men to a pub and then leaving them after making them pay large amounts of bills. These women would make fake profiles on different dating apps and then take the victims to pubs. Leaving their victims with staggering bills, the women quietly slip away from the pub, according to police reports. The investigation is in the process and they have registered a case against the management, they added.
