City's Dating Trap Targets US Tourists: Robbed and Killed Tou Ger Xiong

Tou Ger Xiong, a Hmong-American activist and comedian from Minnesota, was tragically found dead in Medellin, Colombia. Investigations revealed he was kidnapped at gunpoint for a $2,000 ransom. Prior to his trip, he had been communicating with a woman online. Colombian authorities have apprehended one woman and two men connected to his death. Xiong's case is part of a troubling trend, with eight American deaths reported in Medellin during November and December. This prompted the US Embassy to issue a warning about the risks associated with dating apps. In 2023 alone, Medellin recorded 32 foreign deaths, including 12 Americans, many involving incidents of drugging with scopolamine, robbery, and homicide.
